Brunch Baddies

Forget Sunday football brunch is the ultimate Sunday sporting event. From fruity mimosas to decadent breakfast burgers, this guide highlights the premium brunch spots that Philly has to offer.

Añejo | 1001 North 2nd St

Añejo earned first mention on this list because of their legendary brunch special. This $47 prix fixe extravaganza is available every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM. It includes unlimited chips, guacamole, and salsa, unlimited brunch cocktails, unlimited coconut French toast, and one entrée. The coconut French toast is the king of all French toasts because the coconut shredding adds a sweet tang to the bread while adding a crunch. The berries and powdered sugar garnish bring a fresh element to top the plate off. The morning tacos, packed with chorizo hash and scrambled eggs, are a fantastic option for entrees. The chorizo spice harmonizes with fluffy eggs and savory cotija cheese — a great dish to share with the table. If mimosas aren’t to your taste, Añejo also has unlimited bloody marys, sangria, and margaritas.

White Dog Cafe | 3420 Sansom St

A Philadelphia brunch guide would not be complete without mentioning this classic. The brunch menu has something for everyone, from classics such as the Kennett Square omelet, a fluffy egg melted together with sharp cheddar cheese and coupled with roasted mushrooms and caramelized onions, to the Green Meadow Farm double cheddar burger, a juicy beef patty paired with crisp bib lettuce, grilled red onion, drizzled with smoked bacon mayo and encased in a buttered brioche bun. The truffle parmesan fries are an absolute must at White Dog, dusted with cheese and softly kissed by truffle aroma. The truffle fries can be substituted for any side dish on the brunch menu. And if that’s not enough, White Dog Café also offers a tremendous bottomless mimosa deal.

Positano Coast | 212 Walnut St

Positano Coast offers everything you need after a rowdy night out. Try out the brunch burger, topped with a sunny-side-up egg that explodes and fuses the patty with fresh arugula. Alternatively, the rigatoni in a spicy vodka sauce is a spice lover’s dream. Burrata is always the answer for apps: creamy, light, and exquisitely decadent. For sides, try the artichoke fries coated in zesty breadcrumbs and fried to crispy perfection. This crunchy veg is paired with an addictive aioli that is angelic: creamy, tangy, sweet, and pairs wonderfully with the deep-fried artichoke.

Make sure to check out the bottomless mimosas or sangria. The sangria is the perfect adult Capri-Sun to escort any brunch. If the bubbly from the mimosa is not your thing, then this fruity, sweet, aromatic cocktail is the order for you. The Amalfi Coast atmosphere polishes the dining experience and is ideal for any celebration.

SET NoLibs | 1030 N 2nd St

Each meal at SET NoLibs is considered a “set,” but the Set 4 is always my favorite choice. It’s a Korean BBQ Ribeye Burger topped with Tex Mex cheese, caramelized onions, kimchi, sunny side egg, and chili garlic aioli on a brioche bun. The sunny side egg has a yolk that genuinely brings the whole plate together. All entrees include a choice of waffle fries or tater tots, and I recommend ordering extra chili garlic aioli for dipping.

If you are a mimosa mami, then SET is a mimosa must. The shining star of this restaurant is the iconic mimosa tower, consisting of 16 mimosas served through a tap-like opening — a total Instagrammable moment.

Indeblue | 205 S 13th St

Indeblue is the restaurant for the bruncher who wants to diversify their palette. My favorite dish on the menu is the Spicy Chicken N’ Waffles because it combines the best brunch food groups: waffles and deep-fried chicken. The brussels sprouts with burrata, coconut shavings, and pomegranate seeds are a must-have. Why? Only because the pomegranate seeds burst with every bite, crunching with every brussels leaf, and everything is harmonized together by the cream of the burrata cheese. A magnificent side dish. But what is an Indian meal without an order of naan? The truffle naan has a super fresh, doughy center with a crunch and tasteful truffle zest — the meal’s highlight.

Indeblue is the spot for the ultimate mimosa lover. They don’t include a bottomless mimosa deal, but instead offer a mimosa flight that comes with your choice of three juices to pair with a bottle of champagne. Mango, pineapple, and lychee are classic mixers, but if you’re trying to push your comfort zone, try the mango cardamon, rose petal, or orange lavender.
